Key facts
Site Location
The proposed windfarm site is between the villages of Hilton and Seamer on the Stockton-on-Tees and North Yorkshire boundaries.
A map showing the area of the proposed windfarm site can be seen by clicking here.
We will be adding an interactive map of the site in a wider context soon. Please click here to register and we'll let you know when it is available.
Turbines
The studies undertaken to date suggest that the site has the capacity to accomodate 5 turbines with an electrical capacity of up to 3MW each.
These turbines typically have a tower height of between 60 and 80 metres with a rotor diameter of around 80 to 90 metres, giving a total tip height of between 100 and 125 metres. It is expected that the wind turbines will have a matt white finish.
The final details of any proposed scheme will be dependent on the findings of environmental and technical studies that are being undertaken, as well as consultations with various parties including the local community (click here to see more details re community consultation).
Images of what the windfarm may look like can be see by clicking here .
Turbines typically commence generating at wind speeds of around 3 to 5 metres per second (m/s) and would shut down at wind speeds in excess of around 25 m/s. We expect that they will be generating power for over 75 to 80 % of the time.
The anticipated life span of the windfarm will is 25 years.
Traffic Considerations
Construction of the windfarm will require the delivery of large items of plant and equipment to the site as well as materials for the construction of access tracks and foundations. Broadview is keen to keep traffic disturbance during the construction period (typically 8 to 10 months) to a minimum. We will liaise with both Councils, the Highway Agency and the local community concerning proposed traffic routes and delivery times.
